What each app can export
| App | Export | Needs |
|---|---|---|
| iPhone and iPad | CSV of a recording’s readings, with optional masking | Pro |
| Mac | PDF report | Mac Pro |
| Mac | CSV of access point names, from the Access Points tab | Mac Pro |
The Mac does not export a CSV of readings. If you need the raw table, export it from the phone that made the recording.
iPhone and iPad with Pro: CSV
Open the recording
Open the saved recording and go to Export Stats.
Mask if the file is leaving your organisation
Switch on Mask Personal Data. It obscures network names (SSIDs) and access point addresses (BSSIDs) and offsets the locations.
Check and export
Check the preview table, then tap Export as CSV.
The file has one row per reading: time, network, access point, channel, signal strength, noise and signal-to-noise ratio, transmit and receive rates, location and accuracy. The columns for channel busyness (CCA), retries and Wi-Fi delay (WMM) stay empty unless those readings were available, for example from a diagnostic capture. Band, channel width and MCS are marked as estimates.
Mac Pro: PDF report
Open the recording
Open the recording in nOversight for Mac.
Fill in the details
Switch to the report and enter the site, tester and any notes.
Check and preview
Check the requirements and the findings, then preview the pages.
Export the PDF
Export the report as a PDF.
The report states which requirements were met and which need attention, lists findings in priority order with their charts and map, and shows the internet connection separately from the Wi-Fi. What it can show depends on the data in the recording: a missing measurement appears as missing, not as a pass. See reports for an example.
What to send to whom
| Recipient | Include |
|---|---|
| A support desk | Device and software version, the symptom, place, time window and the readings around it |
| A client or site owner | The scope tested, the requirements, the result for each, the evidence and the limits of the test |
| A network specialist | The recording itself, where your policy allows, plus the times of interest |
Check network names, locations, photos, device details and notes before you send anything, and follow your organisation’s retention rules.
Where your data goes
Analysis runs on your device. nOversight has no cloud viewer and does not sync recordings between the phone and the Mac; move files yourself with AirDrop, Files or a share of your choice. Speed tests contact external test servers, which is separate from the analysis.
